The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of Russian judicial eloquence. The object of attention is the activity of the outstanding Russian lawyer A.F.Koni. The essence of A.F.Koni's oratorical skill is investigated in the context of his judicial practice. The contribution of A.F.Koni to the creation of the school of Russian judicial eloquence is emphasized.

The conclusion is made about the originality and innovative aspirations of I.S.Rizhsky's work, conditioned by the epoch of formation of the national literary language at the turn of the 18th - 19th centuries.
