Lomonosov Moscow State University Marine Research Center (LMSU MRC) and the UNESCO–MSU Joint Educational and Scientific Center for Marine Geology and Geophysics invite you to participate in the XV International Scientific and Practical Conference "Marine Research and Education (MARESEDU) — 2026," which will be held in person in Moscow from October 26 to 30, 2026.
The conference is co-organized by the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Faculty of Geology, the Faculty of Geography, and the Faculty of Biology of Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Pertsev White Sea Biological Station, and the Marine Mammal Council.
The XV conference marks an important milestone for participants, organizers, and partners. Over the years, the conference has grown into a major forum that annually brings together hundreds of scientists, educators, and students passionate about marine sciences. In 2026, we look forward to celebrating this anniversary with all friends of MARESEDU, reflecting on past achievements and, of course, outline new goals and development plans for the conference.
Among the main objectives of MARESEDU are information exchange and coordination between the scientific and academic communities in organizing interdisciplinary marine research and integrating practical work with education in marine studies.
At the conference, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the current state and prospects of comprehensive World Ocean research, the latest advances and modern methodological approaches, state-of-the-art equipment for marine surveys, issues of organizing student field training, and the significance of applied outcomes from marine expeditions. MARESEDU will feature scientific sessions, roundtables, panel discussions, and a competition for students and early-career researchers.

Each year, MARESEDU brings together over 1,000 participants and features more than 500 oral and poster presentations.
The conference holds the status of an official event of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. The conference partner is the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, represented by the Department for Coordination of Institutions in the Fields of Technical Sciences and Earth Sciences, Fleet, Testing Grounds, and Expeditions.
