Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Dear authors, reviewers, and readers,

2025 was a fruitful year for Journal of Mining Institute, filled with both victories and new experiences. We sincerely thank you for choosing our journal, for your productive cooperation, and for your valuable suggestions.

We are proud to announce that Journal of Mining Institute continues to demonstrate excellent performance in Scopus, Web of Science, SJR, and other rankings. An achievement of this year is the inclusion of the Journal in the Unified State List of Scientific Publications with Level 1.

To maintain the journal's high rankings, you can make a consistent contribution by distributing the "Journal" articles among colleagues, students, and mentors, as well as posting links to them in your academic profiles. After all, the most difficult thing is to maintain rankings without the ability to assign DOIs, when the number of views through search engines declines, especially by international scholars. The visibility of an article in the academic field is an important step toward attracting attention to the research, as well as increasing the coveted rating of the journal and its authors.

More about rating.

Looking back on this series of events, we would like to sum up the results of 2025, as our large team worked hard to make your experience with the journal more convenient:

  • We have developed internal interaction mechanisms and adjusted the information on the website: we clarified templates, instructions, and checklists for authors. These recommendations will help you format and review your manuscript as thoroughly as possible before submitting.
  • We have published six volumes, including two thematic ones (Volume 273 "Comprehensive Antarctic Research", and Volume 275 "Digital Transformation in Process and Equipment Management at Fuel and Energy Complex and Mineral Resources Companies"). For the first time in a long while, the volume was published in two parts - 276.
  • We actively participated in two conferences with four presentations: the 13th International Scientific and Practical Conference "International Scientific Publishing - 2025: Development Trends" (Moscow, May 20-23, 2025) and the Seventh All-Russian Conference with International Participation "Digital Technologies of the Future - Modern Solutions in Geosciences. ITES-2025" (Vladivostok, September 22-26, 2025). The events provided an opportunity to share experiences with colleagues and gain new information about the scientific periodical press in Russia and around the world.
  • Conducted internships for graduate students – future editors.
  • Together with the Mining Museum, we organized the “Code 2025” competition, the results of which formed the basis for the concept of this year’s covers.
  • Organized the "ARTefacts of Science" scientific and practical seminar and the "Code 2026" competition, which will provide new ideas for journal cover designs next year.
  • Published four digests.
  • Served as information partners for more than 20 scientific and technical events;
  • Articles were posted in scientometric databases in a timely and complete manner and electronic libraries;
  • We improved our tools and expanded our capabilities for a comfortable and efficient workflow:
    – Internal website. After the cyberattack in early 2025, security was strengthened, minimizing data loss and reducing maintenance time. Cookie confirmation and notifications regarding personal data processing were added. Reviewers can now access reviews via a link for two weeks without authorization;
    – We expanded the functionality of the external website by including the ability to add a graphical annotation (a powerful tool for drawing attention to an article) and electronic appendices with datasets or basic information (which reduce the length of an article and allow readers to focus on the core of the research);
    – We implemented modules that help us reduce work time, standardize information, and adjust the process for adding new information.
  • Archive. We moved closer to a goal we have been working toward for years: providing the global community with full-text access in two languages to articles from our 118-year-old archive! The volume of information processed is tremendous!
    We completed other major work!:
    – Verification of dates in the archive;
    – Translation and correction of metadata;
    – Extraction of literature sources to obtain data on the most in-demand ones;
    – Standardization of the rubricator – systematization of sections by broader scientific fields (groundwork for next year);
  • Monitored ratings and made plans for the future.

Key figures for 2025

  • 117 articles submitted;
  • 102 articles published (in various years of submission);
  • 98 articles rejected (in various years of submission);
  • 80 – average number of articles in progress (at various stages);
  • 20+ articles published with international co-authors;
  • 4400+ references verified and formatted;
  • 380+ authors from 170+ organizations worldwide.

Plans for 2026

  • Publication of the thematic volume "Environmental Safety and Sustainable Development: Waste Management" – we invite the authors;
  • Preparation of reports for the professional editorial community conference;
  • Further development of goals as tasks and manuscripts are received!

Thank you for your cooperation in 2025, and we look forward to collaborating even more fruitfully in coming 2026!

Sincerely,
Editorial Board of the "Journal of Mining Institute"
