The study of underground voids and chambers is an important mining and geodetic problem. In the article the classification of methods for solving these problems is proposed in relation to the surveying of chambers in the development of large ore deposits. Two most promising surveying methods are considered: photoplanimetric analysis and laser scanning systems. The essence of these methods is explained, brief descriptions and comparative characteristics of devices, as well as methods of thematic measurements are given.
One of the main tasks of the surveying service is the survey of the sections of mine workings of different sizes, which can be carried out by photoplanimetric method. The essence of the method is presented, the description of the instrumental part and the measurement methods of the surveying of horizontal, vertical and inclined mine workings is given. The issues of improving this type of survey by using digital cameras and software systems for automated processing of survey results are also considered.
