Определение устойчивого развития как развития, обеспечивающего удовлетворение существующих потребностей и не ставящего под угрозу способность будущих поколений обеспечивать удовлетворение своих собственных потребностей, должно лежать в основе российской концепции рационального природопользования и защиты окружающей среды.

The definition of sustainable development as development that ensures satisfaction of existing needs and does not jeopardize the ability of future generations to meet their own needs should underlie the Russian concept of rational nature management and environmental protection.
