Процесс долбления на канат несвободнопадающим и поворачивающимся от руки инструментом идет медленно. Канат частым наращиванием и намоткой на пауки сильно портится и укорачивается. Медленность долбления на канат таким инструментом, вследствие несвободного и слабого удара, еще увеличивается тем, что надо наращивать канат, наматывать и разматывать его при каждом спуске и подъеме инструмента с паука и, наконец заменять от времени до времени канат состоящий из кусков цельным. Все эти недостатки уничтожаются, если инструмент сам сбрасывается, давая сильный удар, и поворачивается автоматически, независимо от каната, потому что при этом не нужно разъединять рабочую часть от запасной и наматывать канат на пауки.
