Вопрос о накоплении погрешностей в рудничном полигоне произвольной формы приводит к рассмотрению сложных формул, не дающих возможности сделать какие-нибудь общие выводы или дать общие правила для решения вопроса в различных случаях практики. Возможность упрощения начинается с того момента, когда ломаной линии мы припишем какую-нибудь закономерность. В обычных рудничных полигонах подобная простая правильность ломаной линии отсутствует, прямые вытянутые полигоны встречаются довольно редко, а вышеупомянутая правильная ломаная линия еще реже. Вместе с тем нельзя сказать, чтобы в форме обычных рудничных полигонов отсутствовала всякая закономерность по крайней мере на рудниках каменноугольных юга России, которые мы главным образом и имеем в виду во всем дальнейшем рассуждении.

At the same time, it cannot be said that any regularity whatsoever is absent in the shape of ordinary mine traverses, at least in the coal mines of southern Russia, which we have mainly in mind throughout the entire subsequent discussion.
