Настоящая работа G. Säve-Söderbergh’a, несмотря на ее скромное название: «Предварительная заметка о девонских стегоцефалах из восточной Гренландии», излагает содержание очень интересного исследования, посвященного описанию нахо­док древнейших из известных доныне Tetrapoda. Следует сказать, что открытие достоверных их остатков в девоне уже давно с нетерпением ожидалось в ученом мире. Автор являлся участником датской Восточно-гренландской экспедиции 1931 г., работавшей под руководством д-ра Лауге Коха и открывшей фауну кистеперых и других рыб в верхнем девоне (слои верхнего красного песчаника в местности Mont Celsius на Ymer Island под 73° 10' сев. ш. и 23° зап. долготы). Точность определения возраста удостоверена работами известного шведского ученого Е. Stenslö (см. статью).
