В настоящей заметке я ставлю целью найти зависимость давления на единицу поверхности металла, сжимаемого между двумя параллельными плоскостями, от толщины сжимаемого куска металла, считая прочие условия равными. Причина, обуславливающая, зависимость давления на единицу поверхности от толщины сжимаемого куска металла, заключается в том, что при сжатии связанном с этим увеличением поперечных размеров сжимаемого куска, а следовательно и площади соприкосновения металла с сжимающими плоскостями, возникает сила трения между сжимаемым металлом и сжимающими плоскостями. Займемся теперь исследованием влияния этой силы (см. статью).
