В предисловии изданного на французском языке по постановлению Совета Горного Института Императрицы Екатерины II собрания сочинений И. П. Долбни под заглавием „Oeuvres mathematiques de Jean Dolbnia" знаменитый французский математик Gaston Darboux, в частности, сказал: "... Большая часть его работ была опубликована на французском языке в Recueils des mathematiques и главным образом в Bulletin des sciemes mathematiques. Решив сопоставить их по объему и представить как единое целое, Горная школа оказала реальную услугу математическим исследованиям. Работа Долбни - заслуга его страны."

In the preface of the collected works of I. P.
