При петрографическом исследовании изделий камнелитейной промышленности мы с первых же шагов столкнулись с задачей изучения не только состава и структур как отдельных единиц, но и с задачей изучения распределения этих структур в отливку в зависимости от формы последней. Задача настоящей работы заключалась в петрографическом исследовании структуры отливки, состоящей из сплава диабаза и пирита. Настоящая работа, имеющая чисто описательный характер, является одной из первых попыток петрографического изучения структур в отливках каменного литья как геологических тел или как отливок металлических сплавов. Такое изучение необходимо связать с точными данными об условиях проведения эксперимента (например, скорость охлаждения и влияние ее на образование той или иной структуры), что является основным моментом в плане будущих работ.

In the petrographic study of stone foundry products, from the very first steps we faced the task of studying not only the composition and structures as individual units, but also the task of studying the distribution of these structures in the casting depending on the shape of the latter. The objective of this work was to petrographically study the structure of a casting consisting of an alloy of diabase and pyrite. The present work, which is purely descriptive, is one of the first attempts at the petrographic study of structures in stone castings as geological bodies or as castings of metal alloys. Such a study must be associated with accurate data on the experimental conditions (for example, the cooling rate and its effect on the formation of a particular structure), which is the main point in terms of future work.
