Колебательные явления в настоящее время широко используются во всех областях техники. Первыми попытками применения колебаний для разрушения угольного массива являются резонансный и вибрацион­ный струги. Повседневный опыт свидетельствует об эффективности ударного при­ложения нагрузки для разрушения хрупких материалов. Уголь же по природе своей является относительно хрупким, и применение ударного скалывания его при выемке вполне естественно.

Vibrational phenomena are now widely used in all areas of engineering. The first attempts to apply vibrations for destruction of coal massif are resonance and vibration jets. Daily experience testifies to the effectiveness of shock application of load for destruction of brittle materials. Coal by nature is relatively brittle, and it is quite natural to apply percussive shearing of it during excavation.
