Радон и торон являются одной из составных частей земной атмос­феры. Распределение концентраций радона изучено достаточно полно. Значительно меньше имеется сведений о концентрации торона в атмосфере. Обнаружены значительные суточные и сезонные изменения концентраций радона в приземном слое атмо­сферы. Концентрация радона и торона в атмосферном воздухе опреде­ляется эксхаляцией их из горных пород и почвы, а также турбулентным перемешиванием в атмосфере.

Radon and thoron are one of the constituents of the Earth's atmosphere. The distribution of radon concentrations has been studied quite completely. Much less information is available on thoron concentrations in the atmosphere. Significant diurnal and seasonal variations of radon concentrations in the surface layer of the atmosphere have been detected. The concentration of radon and thoron in atmospheric air is determined by their exhalation from rocks and soil, as well as by turbulent mixing in the atmosphere.
