Geomechanical and hydrogeological problems оf the Yakovlevsky deposit development

The article deals with geomechanical and hydrogeological problems under the Yakovlevsky ore deposit development including variations in strength properties. The estimation of feasible underground water inrush inside the mining excavation is done. In situ results of ore strata deformation around excavation are discussed. Numerical modeling of stress and strain in the waterproofing ore pillar due to partially backfilling of excavation is carried out.

Study of gas-and geodynamic state of technogenically changeable coal rock mass

Intensification and concentration of the mining works increases substantially the risk of geo- and gasdynamic effects arising within the coal mines. Herewith are presented the results of the analytic and experimental studies on stress-strain state of rock mass due to technogenic impact. Under such conditions a potential avalanche destruction of coal rock mass may occur. Some criteria for evaluation of gas-dynamic danger for rock mass, for active stopes and development faces are given. The computer-aided system for monitoring of hazard of gas- and geodynamic phenomena in mines is suggested.

Influence of rock disturbance on their rheological properties

Complex investigations have been conducted of rheological properties of undisturbed and disturbed rocks under laboratory conditions in the modes of creeping, relaxation and lateral pressure. It was stated that the rheological properties of disturbed rocks substantially differ from those properties of undisturbed rocks. Recommendations are given for the use of the obtained results in solution of tasks in mining geomechanics.

Cycles of the earth and sun – the important factor оf activity of geodynamic processes at coal- and ore mines

The paper contains the substantiation of the determinable role of the cosmos in rhythms of natural and technogenic phenomena at coal- and ore mines. The latent and explicit periods of up-to-date phase of attenuation of the solar constant in the cycle since 1982 to 2070 are shown, as well as the geodynamic consequences of this depression. This paper seeks to give rise to discussion of this problem for working out of coordinated actions in the decrease of geodynamic risks.

Determination of indices of strength certificate оf rocks using the method of specimens failure with spherical indentors

The method has been developed for the determination of indices of strength certificate of rocks using the technique of specimen’s failure with oncoming spherical indentors. This method is based on the assessment of ultimate stresses acting in the tensile plane and within the zones of failured rocks under action of indentors at the moment of sample splitting. Formulas were obtained for calculation of indices of strength certificate, i.e. cohesion and angles of internal friction under tensile compression and nonuniform triaxial compression, ultimate strength in uniaxial compression and tension. This method is applicable in situ conditions.

The Permion State Technical University and ASE «VNIItsvetmet» have carried out in situ measurements of stress-strain state at the Tishinsky lead-zinc ore deposit. Numerical assessment of stress-strain field in vicinity of large open pit mine taking into account geomechanical, geological and mining factors

The results of modeling of rock mass stress state in the vicinity of large open pit mine using finite-elements method are represented. The model allows to take into account the influence of large-scale fractures. The initiation of boundary conditions is based on the results of determination of stress parameters in situ. Account of stress gradients in rock mass in designing of mining constructions

Using the gradient approach the criteria of shear and tensile cracking are developed in compression under conditions of stress concentrations near mine workings. Considering the size effect, a function type of local strength is determined, expressions for critical pressure are derived and comparison between analytical and experimental data is performed.

Physical modeling of energy exchange in rock mass

The cause of manifestation of dangerous dynamic phenomena, such as rock bursts, earthquakes, etc., appears to be the energy exchange in rock mass. Preconditions for application of supports of different types in productive workings of low-thick gently-pitching deposits in tectonically stressed massif (for conditions of the Karnasurt ore mine)

The paper presents the data on the mining-geological conditions for mining and types of stope supports applied at the Karnasurt Mine, the Lovozersky rare-metal deposit. The peculiar feature of mining conditions is the presence of high subhorizontal tectonic stresses in the rock masses, which make the stope roofs more stable, allowing application of non-reinforced types of support.

Transformation of the form and angular parameters of rock movement processes with depth at ore deposits

It was established the increase of movement angles with mining depth and the mechanism of forming the stable natural arching in underground mining of ore deposits. The conditions and parameters of forming the stable natural arching were determined, under which the zone of dangerous deformations localizes inside the ore mass and does not manifest itself on the earth surface. The nomogram for analytical determination of the rock movement angles was developed, and the table was drawn up of the natural arching conditions with due account of main mining-and-geological factors of ore deposit occurrence and its mining.

The determination of the volume stress-strain conditions of the rock massive with the circular outline mining ensrined with the anchors

In the article the analysis of consolidating effect from application of the anchor fastening, which using at driving of transport tunnels in the conditions of North Caucasus is produced. The change of the stress-strain condition of the rock massive, which is weaked by the mining of the circular outline is certain with the finite-elements method. On the basis of the executed design the row of graphic dependences, which describes changing of the sizes of limitary areas depending on strength and deformational properties of the rocks. Mathematical modeling of deformation processes and failure in fractured rock mass

The paper presents the developed modeling program of geomechanical processes in fractured rock mass. In modeling one took into account the geometry of the mined-out space varying in the process of mining operations. Deformation and failure of rocks are modeled on directions with due account of varying anisotropy of deformational and strength properties. As a result, modeling enables to determine not only the fields of stresses and deformations, but also the failure zones and degree of strength attenuations and their orientation. An example of modeling of layer failure development of enclosing rock mass during mining of stratified deposit is included.

The stress-strain state of the massive of the loose ores in the Yakovlevsky deposit around the minings which were drilled with the combines or with drilling-blast technology

The article presents the consistent patterns of the changes in stress-strain state of the massive by the minings of the first stage of protective overlapping in the Yakovlevsky deposit. The change of the stress-strain condition of the rock massive, which is weaked by the mining was determined by the method of finite elements. The stresses distribution in the massive, the displacement of the contour of the minings, the size of conditional zones of non-linear deformations has been obtained. For stoping passes at the first stage the cutting with combine and application of fastening with the anchors has been suggested.

Efficient assessment of stress state of coal seams liable to rock bursts

The article deals with the method for effective evaluation of stress state and rock burst hazard of sections of coal seams by the predicted output of drilling fines. Diagnostics of stability of a mine working in a protective pillar

Consideration is given to the results of assessment of stability of the main transportation way of horizon of undercutting at the «Skalisty» ore mine of the Norilsk Co. – connecting slope. The mathematical modeling of the method for a working protection with a protective pillar has shown that this method will not ensure the stability of the mine working for the whole period of its exploitation. A new method was suggested for protection of the working with the use of preliminarily created stress relieving zone during formation of the packing massif.

During the opencast mining operations with bating and opening-up of new horizons as a result of the process duration in the near-edge rock mass, fatigue accumulates, which leads to slope deformations in the form of slide rocks, rock falls, roof breaks, and, in some cases, large-scale landslides. Given that the open pit edges are complex engineering structures, on the state of which mining operations effectiveness and safety depend, their stability control is a very urgent problem.

Development of geothermal resources – higher efficiency in utilization of the earth’s interior

Preservation of Russia as the great state, its further development and prosperity, appreciably depends on possibilities to provide its own power needs, and also fuel and electric power export. On this historical period, power resources are the basic trading source of replenishment of the state budget. However, oil resources, at preservation of volumes of its export, are quickly exhausted; natural gas is not boundless too. Coal stocks have essentially decreased with disintegration of the USSR, and the remained demand considerable investments, increase of current expenses and are characterised by decrease in quality of coals. Additional expenses on ecological protection of environment will increase. Search of alternative to the organic fuel, burnt in heating plants, is conducted more than ten years. Use of low-temperature sources of thermal energy of resources is one of general directions in the decision of this problem in the XXI-st century. It proves to be true: certain advantages of geothermal resources, a readiness of scientific bases of their development, world industrial experience and specificity of systems of a heat supply in the country.

Results of repeated geodetic observations аt the Мukhanovsk technogenic geodynamic polygon

Results of repeated leveling observations on the geodynamic range, organised on the Muhanovsky oil field (Samara region) are presented. It is shown that the most abnormal vertical displacement of a terrestrial surface (120 mm) are dated to fault to a zone located in the western part of the field and represent an essential danger to objects of the infrastructure of an oil field. Vertical displacement along the profile crossing Otradny town, located at oil field, are insignificant and it makes value of 2 to3 mm.
