Principal technologies for prevention of natural dangers at coal mines

Modern mining of mineral resources to be the industry accepted by the society must meet the criteria for sustainable development. Work safety is its important element, which is a particular sphere in underground coal mines in the view of natural hazards occurring numerously, including the catastrophic failures. Among them are gas hazard, fires and rock burst hazard. The selected methodological solutions in terms of their recognition and technologies applicable for the actively combat of these threats, which are featured by high efficiency, have been pointed out.

Types and mechanisms of geodynamic hazard in mineral deposits mining and exploitation of buried and surface engineer constructions

It is shown that major emergencies in mineral deposits mining and in exploitation of buried and surface engineer constructions are attributed to active faults. Classification of hazardous zones has been developed. The mechanisms of influence of geodynamic hazard in coal mines and pipeline exploitation were determined. The technology of reduction of geodynamic risk was suggested.

An assessment is given to the present-day state of control of dynamic rock pressure manifestations in the rockburst-hazardous ore mines of the Far-East district. Consideration is given to the used methods and facilities for control of rock pressure and the ways for their improvement . Basic foundations of methodical approaches to the assessment of geomechanical state of rock mass by data of geoacoustic control are considered.

Aspects in geomechanics and safety in exploration of solid mineral deposits

The paper deals with the aspects of safety in mining at the ore mine «Norilsk nickel», the Yakovlevsky iron ore deposit, the Verkhnekamsk potassium-magnesium deposit of salts. It was shown that with due account of state of mining at the objects related to the utilization of the Earth's interior, the normative-legal support of mining regulation in the field of geomechanics is rather actual and it requires researches into the activities of mining enterprises as well as in the control work carried out by supervisory bodies of Mining Supervision.

Influence of blocky-hierarchy structure of geological medium on the forming of natural and technogenic geodynamic fields in the North-West part of the Amur geoblock

On the example of the South-Argun uranium ore district of Zabaikalie consideration is given to the interaction of regional and local fields of stresses. The district includes a number of deposits prone to rock bursts. The performed analysis contains data on recent geodynamics of the explored part of the Amur geoblock as well as on geomechanical and geologo-structural materials of Tulukuev caldera and of Antey deposit. It is shown that with the use of the M.A. Sadovsky relationship the indices of local structural forms of a row are subjected to unified laws of deformation and fracturing. Conclusion was made that at the beginning of deposit exploitation the direction of action of stress field within rock mass conformed to regional one, and then it considerably changed under influence of large-scale mining operations.

Geomechanical substantiation of projects of ore deposits mining

The paper presents the monitoring system for better geodynamic safety in mining of mineral deposits. The suggested system of geodynamic monitoring allows us to evaluate the stress state of ore massif for the planned variant of mining and to give recommendations on the safe deposit mining. Based on the analysis of the modeling data, consideration was given to one of the variants of geomechanical substantiation of the project of ore deposit mining.

Prediction of dynamic manifestations of rock pressure in the all over automated longwalls

The support control system «MARCO» has programs for the estimation of a geomechanical situation around the face by continuous measurements of pressure in the legs of support. The analysis of the face convergence allows to predict the possibility of a rock burst. The seam’s reaction on the shearer or plough influence may be the dangerous main roof collapse into the mine-out space of longwall.

Geomechanical foundations of the safe extraction in joint mining of rich, coppery and ore patches in deep ore mines at Тalnakh

The paper deals with the specific formation of stress fields in ore-bearing intrusions at the Oktiabrsky and Talnakh ore deposits with due account of depth of occurrence and formation of tectonic disturbances. The authors have investigated the influence of mining works on stress state of ore-bearing portion of the intrusion. The relationships were obtained in terms of the formation of stress fields in the intrusion during its undermining, overmining and joint mining of several ore deposits. Some recommendations are given for mining of series of ore formations at the Oktiabrsky and Talnakh deposits.

Change in presentations on mechanism of rock and tectonic bursts at ore mines at present time

It was shown that presentations on mechanism of rock and tectonic bursts developed for coal deposits, are not suitable for the conditions of ore deposits. Reuse of development workings as an element of providing the effective coal output

The article contains the results of application in a coal mine of a combined way for protection and support of development workings. This method combines a frame support, anchors and a cast support strip erected behind the longwale. The geomechanical substantiation of technological parameters, regulations and the field for efficient use of this method are given. Its introduction has allowed to increase the loads on longwale and to lower labour content and expenses for maintenance of butt entries.

The conclusion is drawn on the probability of coal falls formation during mining operations in disturbed areas. Principal causes of coal fall formation are considered on the bais of natural surveying observations. Investigation of present-day stress-strain state of rock mass by the results of observations at geodynamic polygons

The methods are suggested for treatment of the results of optical distance and levelling measurements at the underground geodynamic polygons involving in their calculation the tensors of additional stresses and deformations, component of rotation and specific energy of deformability. Modeling of the volumetric stress-strain condition of the rock massive in the near mine which are crossing zone of weakening

According to geological data which was received at the Yakovlevsky deposit, the volumetric model was developed. This model taking into consideration the driving of the mine through zone of weakening. During the analysis of the stress-strain condition near the mine the character of distribution and numerical results of tangential and longitudinal stresses have been revealed. The zone of weakening affects to the distribution of stresses and displacements around the mine. To select the parameters of the lining support it is necessary to take into consideration weakenings and contacts in the ore massive and the distance for these zones.

Deformational precursors of technogenic earthquakes in mining the hydrocarbon deposits

During monitoring since 2005 to 2008 at the Astrakhan gas-field it has been recorded three technogenic earthquakes. Results of geodetic levelling for the given period allow to approve that seismic event is preceded by raisings of a surface and its subsequent subsidence as a its result of unloading. That allows to use geodetic levelling for the forecast of technogenic seismic phenomena for oil and gas fields.

Scientific-methodical foundation for geodynamic safety of oil and gas objects

It was shown on example of a number of deposits that space contemporaneity of emergency situations at wells and pipeline systems to fault zones finds its natural explanation within the concepts of existence of SD processes in such zones. In such situation it is essential to conduct very thoughtful system of diagnostics of crust fields with fluctuation deformation characteristics. For that purpose follow-up realization of three interconnected procedures must be conducted: detailed and measurement-assured monitoring (geodynamic test-area), complex several-variant interpretation of results of the monitoring and selection of different scenarios of possible negative contour, determination of the level of geodynamic risk, forecasting the environmental, social and economic consequences, and formulating strategies for preventive arrangements.

Geotechnical monitoring in cryolite zone. Ecological or industrial safety

The article contains the principal methodological points of the technology of geotechnical monitoring of engineer constructions in the cryolite zone. By way of practical example it was shown the efficiency of its application for reduction of risks in the industrial and economic activities of Gasprom Co by means of creation of numerical models of stability of ground basements and foundations, timely control of mechanical safety of buildings and constructions, qualitative substantiated numerical forecasting and potential variant modeling of aftereffects of technical decisions for stabilization of a situation. Geotechnical monitoring in contrast to the industrial production ecological monitoring is the technology for control of mechanical safety of buildings and constructions at the stages of their designing, construction and exploitation.

Preconditions for prediction of technogenic seismic activity by cycles of objects of the solar system

The paper contains the statistical rows of rockbursts, sudden outbursts of methane at coal mines and ore mines in Russia for the period from 1954 to 2007, as well as the reflection in them of the eleven-year cycles of the Sun activity. Some results are presented of computer modeling of activation periods of outburst-hazardous state of rock mass at coal mines of the Kuzbass basin. Recommendations are given.

Research of deformation, strength and filtration characteristics of Nizhnechutinskoe oil field’s reservoirs in case of depression making in the process of oilwells exploitation

Assessment of the role of geodynamic factor in the accident rate of pipeline systems

The authors relate to the geodynamically active faults those faults with continuous up to present time low-amplitude movements which lead to the destructurization both of bedding rocks and of Quarternary deposits. The electrogeochemical processes proceeding in the zones of such faults, promote the metal corrosion that basically is the cause of increasing a few tens of times of specific accident rate at sites of active faults crossing with pipelines.

The analysis of factors, that cause processes of open hole wells’ destructions of Gatchina underground gas storage reservoir and prediction of sand effects

The peculiarities of elastic stresses in open hole wells’ of Gatchina gas storage reservoir are researched. It is revealed that in depression more than 1,5 MPa gas bearing rocks start to destroy. On the basis of studying of correlation relation between technological parameters of gas wells’ production and evacuation of sand the equations of plural regression are constructed. These equations are used to make prediction of sand evacuation at each producing gas well.

Systematization of factors to be considered in mine abandonment design

Subsoil is not just a source of mineral resources; it also serves as a burial site of industrial and domestic wastes, a storage place for oil and gas, and an environment for constructing underground facilities and creating preservations and nature sanctuaries. Subsoil area development is intensified and diversified with each passing year, exerting great influence on ecological systems and all their components. Special attention should be paid to terrain as upper facet of lithosphere, submitted to maximal impact of anthropogenic processes. Activation and emergence of natural and anthropogenic processes causes changes manifested in various combinations of negative events. Most important events include deformations of rock mass and land surface: exhaustion and pollution of ground and surface water, waterflooding and swamping of tapped sites, soil dehydration and salinization, air pollution, land site withdrawal from commercial circulation etc.
