Apologia of asceticism in ancient roman literature

Abstract

This issue traces the development of asceticism idea in ancient Rome independently of Christianity influence. The will to asceticism traces from pre-Christian times by the examples of ancient Rome literature. So, that main Christian ideas was formed under antique influence is taken for granted.
