The analysis is made of the present-day state of mining production of the Zapoliarny branch of the Norilsk Nickel Co. The article discusses some ways to improve operational safety and commercial efficiency of the transpolar sister company of Open Joint Stock Company Norilsk Nickel - Mining and Metallurgical Combine. Among them: development of a new technology for consolidation charge formation (Tekf-lex type); measures to introduce and increase the use of highly efficient and safer non-electric explosion initiation means (NEMBI); implementation of the pilot project “Mining Automation System” with MineScape software support, etc.
