Atmospheric column is a complex technological object. This is due to the complexity of its inherent technological processes, which manifest themselves in a significant number and variety of process parameters that determine their development, numerous internal relationships between the parameters and their mutual influence. Accordingly, there are problems with the management of this plant at production enterprises. This study is performed with the aim of creating an automated control system for an atmospheric column. The paper describes the design and processes occurring in the atmospheric column. Its model was created with the help of HYSYS software of Aspentech company. With the help of this model the main input and output quantities of the process, their ratio, methods of regulation, purpose and control criteria were determined.
